How I Can Help
While there are many approaches to psychotherapy, the best outcomes have been shown to occur when there is a good relationship between the client and the therapist. It is important for you to feel comfortable and safe in therapy so that you can express your thoughts and feelings freely knowing that you are truly heard. I am an exceptionally good listener. I will make every effort to help you feel understood and accepted. The experience of feeling deeply prized and understood can be very healing. I will work collaboratively with you to help you achieve your goals.
Although having a good client-therapist relationship is essential for therapy to succeed, it is often not enough. Psychological problems often stem from buried traumas (such as loss, abuse, neglect or heartbreak) that we are consciously unaware of. The traumas can be one-time catastrophes or the accumulation of years of abuse or neglect. Clients often are not aware of the underlying reasons for their problems. I use therapeutic approaches that reveal the deep unconscious roots of traumas that are bubbling up and being expressed in current symptoms. Once the underlying problems are excavated, they can be processed and resolved.
